It took me two days to download, watching 15 second excepts every 5 minutes while trying to do other work. It was worth it.
This highly distracting, sad and inspirational lecture was presented by Randy Pausch, a 47yr old Professor from Carnegie Mellon University who is dieing from pancreatic cancer.
Obviously a brilliant speaker, this man who has weeks or months to live, starts his speach by saying “If I don’t seem as depressed or morose as I should be, sorry to disappoint you” - Shortly after, he is on the floor doing push-ups “Im healthier than most of you, If you can do that, you are allowed to pitty me”
What follows is an hour and a half of excellent insight and lifes lessons, teachings which apply to us all. I highly recommend you take the time to listen, I promise you will learn something. Afterall, this bloke has experienced zero gravity and worked with disneys imagineering! He might be only 47, but he has lived a very full life.
My favourite part, was the last line of his speech - the second headfake.

This next one is one of my favourites. Google No.7 - Keyword (”Singapore Gelato”) - Do you even have to wake up in the morning to rank #7 for a phrase with 191 competing pages? Ok in fairness, it is now ranked #6 in google on the broad match, BEHIND “Registration Open Call for Speakers for Gelato ICE Itaniumreg …” This guys competitors aren’t optimised, and Mr Internet-Empire doesn’t even have his own page optimised for this own key phrases!
But wait - you think you are done laughing? What other keyphrase could you target?
Google No.1 - Keyword(”Internet Marketing Nigeria“)
HA HA HA HA HA !!!

Wait Wait - I just spotted his tag line “To Be Conscious That You Are Ignorant Is A Great Step To Knowledge” - well atleast he is trying to acheive knowledge.
The Tumblr Tanty had a big effect on this years thirty day challenge - it didn’t kill it, but it definately killed a lot of enthusiam and destroyed a lot of hopes.
Everybody was cursing tumblr when it happened, but I just took a look around and I think I understand why they panicked….
I don’t even need to circle the dates on this thing. Its pretty obvious!
For a PR6 site with a whole heap of traffic, and an estimated worth of around $3 million, I can understand why having a doubling in traffic in about 3 days would have caused alarm bells to go OFF!
But the fact remains that any good business brain would have realised the massive benefit of the 30dc - Well done on tumblr for reaching these heights - but seriously guys, next time just give me the excess traffic instead of flushing it down the loo!
I guess the moral to this story is, always take time to think about what is actually going on.
I’m an big fan of Google Docs - Its definately the way of the future. And today google release another feature taking it one step closer to a complete office alternative.
Google Presentation is the logical next step for google docs. Not particularly interesting to me personally, its most likely the third most used office application.
It seems to do most things Microsoft Powerpoint can do, without a lot of the clutter and bullshit.
So far it seems to be pretty good, go and check it out.
I received this clarification on receiving “syndication credits” on the BlogRush system
“Your Traffic = 1:1
1st Generation Of Referrals (Directly From You) = 1:1
2nd Generation Of Referrals (i.e. Jen in the video) = 1:1
3rd - 6th Generation Of Referrals = 1:4
7th - 10th Generation Of Referrals = 1:8

So far, I’m very impressed.
There is a LOT of content - and I haven’t once considered any of the content to be anything other than top notch. I’ve listen to one interview (with John Reese - highly recommended) which was 2 hours long, during which I wove an elaborate “something” from some phone cabling I pulled apart to avoid the risk of being distracted, which is always a risk with my information hungry brain - Image attached for your amusement.
I think it looks fantastic, and I’m looking forward to the next interview so It can grow a little more.
I’ve read one newsletter, and I’ve started to read one other e-book. Considering the amount of content, I think I’ve made excellent progress…
I’ve mentioned before I considered the content in the newsletter to be FANTASTIC! Very very very excellent stuff (I read the 5th newsletter btw) - I almost feel like Dan has stripped naked and shown off all his assets and tricks. Luckily there are no pink thongs anywhere to be seen, I was refering to Dan’s business operations.
I was having a little trouble when I tried to load the info I had downloaded onto a flash drive to take home for the weekend.
As I said, there is a HUGE amount of content.
Its all top notch stuff, but I have noticed not everything is original immediate edge content. Thats not a bad thing, because its all content which people have payed good money for in the past, and its all worth a lot.
As with all payed membership communities, the forum inside is full of very smart and motivated folk. Its just another real asset in the IE program.
So far so good, but I have hardly scratched the surface.
I still haven’t found “the special sauce” - but I haven’t looked either.
As Expected:
Its actually a lot better than I expected - 360 hits on day two with zero attention… not bad if you ask me.
I will reveal what I did to get those 2000 hits soon enough, so if you want to find out you should really subscribe to this blog.
